TRIA 4X - STUDY 1

Long term results following 8 treatments with Tria 4X’s laser system.

To evaluate the safety and efficacy of a home-use hair removal diode laser [Tria 4X] in a multiple treatment regimen. Indicated adults with naturally brown or black hair and Fitzpatrick skin type I-IV received 8 monthly treatments with the diode laser at three fluences, with a fourth area left untreated as a control.

21 adult participants aged 18-45 with naturally brown or black hair and skin types I-IV on Fitzpatrick Scale, who had never previously had laser hair removal or electrolysis.

The principal investigator of this study was Dr Ronald G. Wheeland, a well respected dermatologist and laser surgeon. He was the Professor & Chief of Dermatology at multiple universities, including University of Arizona (at the time of this study), as well as the former President of the American Academy of Dermatology, President of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and President of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, and an inductee into the Dermatology Hall of Fame.
Participants received 8 monthly treatments at three fluences, with a fourth area left untreated as a control. Users self-assessed hair reduction in the three treated areas, 12 months post-treatment. Alongside this, quantitative hair counts were made at each treatment visit.
